KILMORE MANNA GUM HOUSE
When the clients came to us with their brief for the Kilmore Manna Gum House, they had a clear challenge. They wanted to build a home on a steep slope, but they needed to keep construction costs down.
By collaborating closely with the builder from the early stages, we focused on finding practical solutions to keep the budget manageable. Rather than fighting the land which would have meant spending a fortune on heavy machinery to flatten the site we took a more clever, natural approach. We designed the house to gently step down the slope, flowing with the natural contours of the earth.
This simple idea saved them from expensive excavation work while protecting the surrounding bushland. In the end, it turned a difficult site into the home's best feature, resulting in a unique, split-level space that sits comfortably in its natural setting.
